Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that all non-essential shops had to close in Leeds and across England from Wednesday, January 6. Non-essential retailers include clothing and homeware shops, car showrooms, betting shops, tailors, electronics shops, auction houses and market stalls selling non-essential goods. Food shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, garden centres, and building merchants can all stay open.
