Police were called to the River Aire in Leeds city centre today after a large package was seen floating in the water.
They were joined at the scene in Whitehall Road by firefighters and paramedics shortly before 11am.
A spokesman said the caller had described seeing a body-sized package in the water.
He said the item was retrieved and turned out to be a duvet.
