2001 saw the new headquarters of The Getaway Girls officially opened in Harehills thanks in part to cash from the Lottery Community Fund and Abbey National. And your YEP was there for the opening ceremony as Galaxy 105 DJ J-Jo did the honours for a group which continues to helps young women in Leeds to transform their lives. It was also a community that came together after a night of rioting in the summer of 2001. Elsewhere LS8 said a fond farewell to a much loved vicar, costumes were being created at a workshop in Harehills ahead of the West Indian Carnival and the Harehills Irish Music Project made all the right noises.
