But beating the arch enemy, that side from the other side of the Pennines really would top the list satisfaction-wise, especially after this week and the whole European Super League furore. For 24 hours at least, 48 at a push, it looked like the Leeds United against Manchester United fixture was very soon going to be off the agenda, no sooner than it was back on it. But the Red Devils along with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur then took the wheel to perform a hasty u-turn and now the Battle of the Roses is indeed here to stay. As part of a superb return to the Premier League, the first league clash between the two sides for over 16 years did not exactly go Leeds' way back in December. The sight of the Old Trafford scoreboard of Manchester United 6 Leeds United 2 was a difficult one to digest for the Whites, even as a newly promoted side. But as even Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said himself today, that was no 6-2 game. The scoreline should and could have been different. Leeds are better than that and Leeds have learned since, just ask Man City or Liverpool.
