Warning of 'treacherous ice' in Leeds as temperatures plunge below freezing

Temperature are set to plunge as low as -3C tonight following a particularly chilly week, with no sign of sunnier weather this weekend.
The ice warning is in place from 9pm on Saturday to 9pm on Sunday and forecasters warn than "treacherous ice" may develop following freezing rain this weekend.

Hide AdThere is a chance that dangerous driving conditions may occur, the Met Office says, leading to crashes, road closures and longer journey times.
There is a small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
And untreated pavements and cycle paths may quickly become treacherous and possibly impassable, according to the warning.

The Met Office says it will become "fine this evening, leaving a very cold remainder of the night under clearing skies.

Saturday will see a clear but very cold to start with some sunshine.
A raw wind will pick up as the day progresses, with sunshine becoming increasingly hazy under advancing cloud from the west.
Forecasters say Sunday will be "raw, cold and cloudy" with gales in places, as freezing rain causes a risk of ice.
