A LEEDS record store is gearing up to stage its first-ever Local Music Day in a bid to help more bands in the city prosper.

The event on Saturday, September 12, at Jumbo Records in the St John’s Centre, will see three local acts perform for customers and local bands are being encouraged to pop down to the store and submit their demos to a representative from national record label Too Pure.

To mark the day, Jumbo has teamed up with local breweries Kirkstall and Zapato to produce a special beer which - while not available in the shop itself - will be sold in a number of bars around Leeds, including the Brudenell Social Club and North Bar.
