House explosion causes significant damage as emergency services deal with aftermath

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called shortly after 1pm on Thursday (April 22) to reports of a fire in a home on Bryan Close, Castleford.
When crews arrived, they discovered an explosion had occurred in the property.

Hide AdThe fire service said the explosion caused "significant damage".
A total of five fire engines attended the blaze, it was confirmed.
An aerial ladder platform and three engines remain at the scene dealing with the fire.
Some residents of the street have been evacuated according to social media reports.

Hide AdA spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service said: "We were called at 13.27 to reports of a fire in a property on Bryan Close in Castleford.
"Five fire engines attended.
"Crews are still damping down with three fire engines still in attendance, plus an aerial ladder platform.
"An explosion occurred in the property causing significant damage."
West Yorkshire Police confirmed to the YEP that they were assisting the fire crews on the scene.
