Garage and car set on fire after being struck by lightning strike in West Yorkshire

It happened at 11.35pm on Tuesday, May 11.

A double garage with a car inside was struck by lightning in Whitley Road in Dewsbury.

The fire service reports that the whole garage was alight.

Crews from Mirfield and Dewsbury went to the scene and used two hose reels and breathing apparatus.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Fire involving a double detached domestic garage with car inside following a reported lightning strike.

"Garage was 100 per cent involved in fire.

"Crews used 2 hose reels and 2 breathing apparatus.

"Appliances from Mirfield and Dewsbury attended."
