New figures have revealed the cheapest and most expensive postcodes to buy a house in Leeds and West Yorkshire.

According to Office of National Statistics figures, Yorkshire and the Humber ranks as the third most affordable region to live in in England, with a property costing approximately 5.83 times the area's average yearly salary.

This is lower than the national average in England, where employees paid an average of 7.8 times their annual salary.

The data, which was analysed by Money.co.uk, also collated the lowest and highest priced postcodes in West Yorkshire by finding the average price paid in each lower-layer super output area (LSOA)

Ilkley, postcode LS29, was found to be the region's priciest area to live.

It comes after the spa town was voted as the best place to live in the north in The Sunday Times Good Places to Live Guide 2020.

Three Leeds postcodes also made the list

LS14, which covers areas like Seacroft and also the villages of Scarcroft and Thorner, was found to be the second most expensive place to buy a home, with average house prices of £620,000.

LS22, which covers Wetherby and the surrounding villages, was named as the third, with an average house price of £541,750 .

At number four, was LS20 in Guiseley, where price houses on average were found to be £525,000.

The fifth most expensive postcode was WF2 in Wakefield where prices were on average £380,000.

On the opposite end of the scale, the cheapest postcodes were mainly in Bradford, but with the addition of one north Leeds postcode.

LS9, which covers Harehills, Burmantofts and Osmondthorpe was found to be the region's fifth cheapest postcode to buy a house in with average prices of £62,000.
