When a historic Leeds pub was threatened with last orders

It was the month brewery bosses threatened to call last orders at a historic Leeds pub.

The Fforde Grene pub in Harehills was being threatened with closure in September 1996. And these loyal customers - Jack Senior, Larry Callaghan, and John Dowkes - who had been familiar faces at the bar for more than 40 years lent their support to keep it open. Elsewhere a sports retailer was on the move in the city centre, while a famous cricketer and a familiar face from a hit TV show were visiting to promote books. Enjoy these photo memories, plucked from the YEP archive, charting 30 days in the life of your Leeds in the mid-1990s.
