I awoke to what i thought was my daughter shaking her bed head against the wall. Then turned over thinking that was like an earthquake. The next thing i knew it was morning & i had forgotten all about it until hearing the lunchtime news , which i thought broke my dream.

woke up just before 1am and my bed was shaking - a glass fell off my table and a few pictures on the wall fell down - in almost every room! the quake lasted about 10 sec and at the time it felt as if the roof was going to come off! My parents woke up along with me, the only person to sleep through it was my seven year old sister. Even our hamster was going mental! At first we thought it was wind, then my mum thought up that it could of been an explosion of the gas tanks that are further up our street. My dad said it could of been a mini "earthquake". However, it wasnt until the morning on the news that we found out it was an eartquake. Well - that's something to tell the grandchildren!

I live in a second floor flat and it sounded like the tiles were falling off the roof and someone was in the communal hallway banging loudly on the walls. The room was shaking violently and it woke me up immediately. I thought the building was collapsing. It terrified me, but no one else seemed bothered. I looked out of the window but no one else put their lights on. I called my parents in Leeds and they felt it too. First time I've ever experienced anything like that. I'd be happy never to experience it again!

I live in the eastend park area of Leeds, i wasn't asleep when the tremor occurred i was in bed watching t.v with my partner. At around 1am we heard a rumbling noise it did sound like a lorry (living near the industrial estate it made sense) then i thought it was a plane (i'm in the attic of a house and cause the noise was so loud and close i thought it might be a plane overhead.) we stood on our bed to look out of the window the rumbling was louder and i could feel the house vibrating, then the bed started shaking, the neighbours dogs were barking and our bed physically moved and we could hear ornaments and glass rattling. We were terrified, we didn't know what it was, living in the uk i don't expect earthquakes so it didn't even occur to me, it only lasted a few seconds but it really shook me up my adrenaline was still going and we were going through possibilities the fact that the house was still standing and we were okay was good but i still felt on edge not sure if it was going to happen again. we turned on the news to discover that there had been a tremor. it was very scary, surreal and not something i am in a rush to experience again.

I was one of many woken at just after 1am to the bed vibrating as though a washing machine was on it's final spin. I quickly realised there was no washing on. My next thought was we had been broken into but what could have made the bed shake so badly. Then just as quickly the entire house started to shake like it was made of jelly. Both myself and my husband sat bolt upright in bed, the cat went mad and wasn't sure what was happening and I said "Do you think it's an earthquake?". Then just as quickly as it had started it faded away again. My husband said he only woke up because he heard the cat's bell. He thought it was just the wind that might have shoke the house!. Some people said they were woken by the noise but for me you could have heard a pin drop until items in the house started to rattle. My 6 month old baby slept through the lot!
It was only short but it was incredibly scary and not something I'd want to repeat. Even at 1am I was sure it was an earthquake as lights were flicking on all down the street. My husband confirmed this at 8am just as he was going to work, I told him I was right!

I heard the noise and felt the shuddering and at first thought my son had fallen out his bed into his wardrobe, all in the space of about a second my bed shook and moved a fraction down the room, it was really weird

I woke up terrified, It felt like i was vibrating down the bed, and shaking at the same time, as i tried to sit up, the room started shaking and the noise was awful, i really thought it was something paranormal.

It was the regular beat that woke us, rising loudly to a rather frightening level. We had lots of ideas between us, but an earthquake was not one of them!
BUT, at around 7.30 this morning, we heard the beating again, much more quietly, and I remarked that this was the same thing. Was this an aftershock?
When the truth emerged, it was in time for me to avoid going round next-door to complain, as we had both decided that it was the young lad there, playing his drum kit.

I live in Garforth and at first wondered if one of the many disused mine shafts in the area were collapsing. It was certainly scary but the eeriest part was afterwards; there was no sound at all, not even a bird singing.

I was awake at the time, in bed, and the wardrobe started rattling and shaking. My first thought was that my cat was trapped in the wardrobe but remembered he'd been in the kitchen when I came to bed. I slowly opened the wardrobe doors, calling his name, and found nothing there. I looked in the drawer (why I thought he'd be in there I've no idea) and no cat there either. Then I thought the wind had blown something down next door's chimney, and my final thought was that the house was haunted and I was cracking up. In the morning I switched on Radio Leeds and wondered how Andrew Edwards knew my wardrobe had been moving during the night, and realised he was talking about an earthquake and I didn't have 'something demented' in my wardrobe.

I was awoken when I was hit on the head by a photo frame that I have above my window. I instantly sat up and could feel the bed shaking, I looked around but came to the conclusion that I was dreaming and went straight back to sleep. In the morning I slept through my alarm for over an hour before been woken only to discover that I wasnt dreaming and that I now have a red mark on my head from where the photo frame had hit me.

We were woken up by a loud roar. I thought the roof was coming off and then a picture on the bedroom wall began rattling. It was all quite scary. My wife was too frightened to get out of bed.

I live in Leeds & sleep on a chair bed, on the 3rd floor of a 3 storey back-to-back. I felt the shaking, but wasn't aware what it was. My neighbours were running round at the back of me earlier that evening, so I thought it was them. I am very scared of enviroment stuff as it is, without this coming to us.

I thought I was dreaming, my bed shock and there was a load bang (the earth did move in my bedroom without my husband as he is working away). My 5 year old daughter shouted too as some of her teddies that were on her wardrobe fell off.

I was woken at about 1am and I blamed the wife for making the noise has the bed was shaking and things where rattling on my draws at the side of the bed.
She said the whole building was vibrating so I just laid still waiting for a noise outside and thinking a car had hit the building. the fist I knew it was a earthquake was when I put the news on at 5.45am this morning. Poor wife she always gets the blame ….

I was awoken by the sensation of being jerked backwards and forwards then heard this deep roar nothing like I have ever heard, first thought was a mini tornado rocking the house, the noise then got deeper, like a rumble from below and I knew it was a quake. Many collegaues here in Bradford 7 felt it, some in keighley, queensbury, shibden valley. An awful experience.

At about 1am Wednesday morning we experienced an earth tremor which only lasted a few seconds but was unnerving. The bed started to shake and we quickly realised that the whole house was moving. We experienced no damage. Did anyone else experience it??

Are you aware that an earth tremour took place in the Brighouse area at 0055hrs this morning. I was awake at my home in Rastrick when the whole house shook for two or three seconds. It wasn't violent enough to cause ornaments to fall, but the sound of furniture shaking etc could be clearly heard.
