We should have kept him – he is technically better than the palyers we have now as well as having the heart of a lion. Palace have done very well. He will be missed

Assuming Dennis Wise knows who the mole was/is?Why has he been reluctant to name names?Derry has voiced his innocence.I wonder why he left it until now before doing so?Surely he would have had far more support from Leeds' fans had he refuted wise's accusations when they were first made....Buttler,telephone,lounge(players)

Dennis made it obvious to everyone of the Leeds Supporters that there was no future for Shaun Derry at the Club. This nonsense about sending him out on loan to get some matches in was total fabrication - why not
come out and tell us the real reason, which was of course he clashed with the player and did not want him
at the Club - shades of Gary Kelly!
Im afraid that Derry - and hope Im wrong Alan Thompson - will go the way of good bad or indifferent player at the Club - if Dennis dont get his way with you its goodbye!.
Our Club will not succeed at the level we want them to be i.e. Premiership as long as the the Manager thinks the Richardsons and Hughes of this world will get us there.

Good Luck Shaun, You never lets us down, Its no coincidence that Palace have been on a fantastic run since you joined, You will be missed and remembered by Leeds fans. Good luck mate
Pompey White****
Shaun Derry never let Leeds down and although he had the odd game where he was out of sorts, he could always be relied upon to put more effort in than many. I don't believe and never have believed that he was the mole, although his connections made him the obvious suspect.
We missed him when he got injured, and we may not have been relegated had he been playing. The midfield always struggled without him. I am disappointed that Dennis Wise did not give him a chance to prove himself in the team and it was always likely that once he went on loan to his old manager at Palace, he would not return. That is, I fear, a mistake.
Nevertheless, I think Dennis is doing a fantastic job in difficult circumstances and I have no reason to doubt that he will get Leeds back to the Championship.
Heather (Leeds) ****
Good luck Shaun, you're better off out of here and don't we just know it!
It seems ever more clear that Wise is incapable of maintaining relationships with quality players. Clearly relegation and financial circumstances forced hands in many instances, however he has systematically forced out of the first team, then the club, any player with genuine quality to be replaced with those who suit Wise's 'style' - or 'comfort zone' as you might call it.
There's no doubt we need grit and determination, but that alone is not enough in any league. Its no coincidence that in recent months we've lost several games to sides that play confident, progressive football. When we needed Shaun back, we'd already long since burned our bridges, no amount of hissy fits in the media could undo the statements from LUFC dismissing his future at the club Shaun's dignity and quiet resolve have once again shown the management up for the short-sighted fools they are.
Stuart Muxlow****
What is Wise up to? Derry was a quality midfielder that should have been reinstated in the side as soon as he was fit again.
Did Leeds get his full worth or have Palace had one over on us as every other club seems to do when it comes to selling our best players on?
Derry was the first player that came to mind when the mole story errupted but perhaps it was a bit too obvious to blame him.
Derry will eventually be forgotten about like so many others but will Wise get away with failing to get Leeds up into the Championship? I think not.
I hope these new players that have just come in are a lot better than we've seen from them so far because you're the one who has to do all the explaining if it turns sour Dennis.
David Collins****
Shaun Derry was our best player in the play-off season and outstanding particularly in our win away in the play off semi's at Preston. He has been the best in his position at Leeds since David Batty and has not been effectively replaced so far. Thanks are due to Shaun for his efforts and good luck at premiership chasing Palace.
James Kenny****
Derry was awesome in 2006 and got us into the play-offs with a shot at the Premiership. He was out last season and we got relegated. He seems to have dragged Palace up the table from bottom to top - not bad for a player who is "not match fit". £100,000 is a joke for a player the quality of Shaun Derry.
Andrew Frith****
Good bye and Good Luck Shaun,
Another time under another Manager you could have been part of history and a Leeds Legend
Instead you have been labeled a Judas and an outcast there are two sides to every Story

Just can't believe what's going on,shaun Derry was the best midfielder at the club, who give everything for the club, To get 300,000 is a joke maybe if we got our money's worth the season tickets wouldn't be increasing, The new players couldn't lace his boots what I saw on saturday
Daz Walker****
He should have been given a chance when he became fit as he was one of the better midfield players we had. Maybe teams wouldn't have walked over us in midfield if he was playing. Or was he the mole? Player power again!!!!
Let's face it, it was just a matter of time before we got beat more, as we rode our luck too many times this season.
Regards Barrie****
Shaun Derry is a midfielder Leeds need on board to win promotion, it wont happen now. Mr Wise has got this one wrong.
Kev****
So how much did Leeds get for a player that has taken a mediocre championship side that were near the bottom of the table, to a side that is now in the top 5 of the championship and pushing for promotion?
Hmm, not a lot I bet. Probably another undisclosed fee, because it would be ridiculous to show how much we get done over by in nearly every transfer deal we do.
He was valued at at least £300,000 by Leeds, Palace obviously wanted him, and he still had quite a bit to run on his contract. So how much did leeds let him go for, I say about £100,000, but never mind the fans will make up the difference with the season ticket price increases.
Liam****
Really disappointed - Shaun Derry has been the driving force behind Leeds in the Championship, setting the tempo, getting stuck in & has put more effort in for the cause then any other player. Mole or no mole, Mr Wise has made a big mistake - I think Mr Warnock has just taught Mr Wise a lesson, lets just hope this childish decision dosn't come back to haunt us.

As is always the case with LUFC, whispers and rumour have hijacked any element of truth and the player, to his credit, has kept his feelings out of the public arena, so we're left to make up our own minds and develop our own theories as to why Shaun Derry was left out of the team for so long and why his transfer is now seemingly a done deal. A colleague who is a Palace season ticket holder is keen to point out that the overall improvement in their fortunes has coincided with Derry returning to the team..they've not lost a game since he added steel to their frail midfield
I think Derry's position at Leeds had an inevitable outcome. The mole debacle and press hearsay declaring that he had snubbed Dennis Wise and Leeds United ( later refuted by Neil Warnock) brought the inevitable to a sharper conclusion. Derry was an excellent player in his short time at Leeds and was well liked by the fans....speculation and paper-talk rhave created a situation wherein he would undoubtedly be subjected to abuse from certain sections of ER were he return. The player has handled himself with a touch of class throughout this sorry affair and, as a solid performer during his short spell in Yorkshire, surely deserved better.....Given recent performances I fear, come May, we'll be looking back and ruing the loss of his combativeness and guile.
Brian****
i agree that the Derry saga is a sham. Leeds United have a wage ceiling for each player of £4 to £5000 per week Derry is on £7000 they cant wait to get rid. We were out fought and thought, last Saturday so hopefully we produce the goods at Luton and Southend.Iwill be there come on Leeds you can do it .

If he was the 'Mole' and gave the team sheet to Palace, Wisey did say he would never play for Leeds again, so he had to go
Christine****
we need midfielders and wise parts with a player, WHY?
Terry****
I don't see a problem with Shaun going. We have many midfielders of equal or better quality. We have been the best team in Div 1 so far without him. Enough said.
Jonathan Hallas****
I've been fully behind DW up to date but I am very disappointed with his posturing on the Derry issue. Wise has unequivocally said in the past that Derry did not figure in his plans; more recently while reiterating that the door was never closed he was lukewarm to any suggestion that Derry would return.
Clearly the whole saga of loaning Derry out 'to give him games and get fit' is some sort of artifice for the real reason. Who would believe that a League 1 player could be loaned to a Championship team, where he has been playing very successfully, just to get him fit?
Unfortunately as with almost every issue at Leeds United, from why the scoreboard doesn't work to who owns the club, things are always shrouded in mystery and no simple explanation is ever given. This policy is disrespectful to the supporters.
George Scarlett****
It would appear that Derry was not part of Dennis's plans and why would he have been after the fantastic start without him. Do you send out a player to a higher league to get fit and then bring in an ageing unfit bulgarian to go straight into the first team ahead of him. Can understand why he was not interested in coming back but to be honest cannot and will not knock Dennis results are illuminating the season and see us tunneling out of this Division whereas moles cant see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Mark Bakes****
I think that Dennis Wise has shown his inexperience as a Manager and has got his just desserts in the Shaun Derry situation, which means that Leeds United, and ultimately the fans are the ones to suffer. The lack of a recall clause showed Derry all he needed to know about his position at Leeds and it is fatuous to assume that he would return before he had to.
Steve Holmes****
This i'm afraid is all our own fault---if there was no recall clause there is no point Bassett and Wise whinging now---they musn't have wanted him when they didnt put the clause in and now we have injuries you can't just change your mind----Bassett and wise are fooling no one and its being used as a smokescreen to hide the flaws in our team just now----come on Bates buy some decent players!!!!!
Charlie
Belfast****
Can't understand why Wise felt he had to send him out on loan to get fit in the first place so you can't blame Derry for not wanting to return when he's playing well in a team where the manager obviously wants him and he's playing in a higher league. Wise has only got himself to blame on this one i'm afraid.
Nick Skill****
I do not blame shaun derry, wise said he will go on loan to get match fit. But as a leeds fan,I watched him play in the reserves, full 90mins all games plus best player on the park, wise must remember we are not stupid. He was put straight into palaces team, and playing very well. We need people like him,and not people like wise, who keeps throwing his teddy bear. plus has he got his coaching badges. LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS.
Mick Amos****
Dennis Wise has treated Shaun Derry like a dog and now wants him for something. Unsurprisingly he doesn't want to know - and who can blame him? LUFC management have now gone into full scale propaganda mode trying to blame it on Derry. The management had sent a Derry a clear message of where he figured in 1st team plans in August, Sept, Oct and Nov.
Derry has been worthy of a place in this team all season and it was obviously foolish of our management not to put a recall clause in his loan contract. Not very Wise.
Kieron Maclean****
Wise cannot have it both ways,he effectively froze Derry out when he was injured and things were going well for the team. Many fans said it was wrong at the time to put Derry out on loan,as we were aware of his ability in the season Leeds made the Play Offs.
How can Wise now expect him to come running back to Leeds as soon as he needs him, when he is contributing to Palaces record run of games,in a higher division.
Michael J. O'Doherty****
As Dennis Wise snubbed Derry in the first place I am not at all surprised that he didn't want to come back.
Derry is beter than any of our current set of journeymen (some of whom should be in the Blue Square conference) so is justified in taking his bat home.
Richard Knowles ****
Firstly, I have to express my disappointment that Derry isn't coming back - he is the best midfielder on the books (all be him not at the club physically at the moment!) by a mile - hence a Championship team taking him on loan - & is exactly the type of player our midfield is crying out for! We have no-one in midfield that can get in amongst the opposition & break up attacks! Even with a fully fit set of midfielders, we don't have a 'Wise' type player (which Derry is!) who has the 'balls' to get into the thick of it!
Look at the midfield we have:
Douglas - Work horse, doesn't really fit into either a tackler / creative player type mould, but works hard & puts himself about.
Howson - Still learning, but got plenty of potential, not sure which mould he will fall into, but would air on the creative site.
Thompson - Undoubted free kick talent, but weak as chocolate fire guard!! Only has a left foot & is too old & too slow to put himself about!
Kishishev - Played well last season, but I think he's too old to cut it week in week out now!
Westklake - Weak, weak, weak!!
Prutton - Playing in the wrong position in my opinion, should be in the centre of midfield and could maybe do a 'Wise / Derry' type job! But we need a winger to replace him.
Hughes - Also being played in the wrong position & should be at the centre of midfield, playing with Prutton in the middle would be the best we have at the moment. But we need a creative player in there!!
Now on to the Derry not coming back situation!
I can't blame him - why would a player come back to a club where (reading between the lines, although it is pretty clear to all) your not wanted & have been loaned out under the guise of becoming 'match fit'!! When in reality your boss is blaming you for the apparent mole in the camp last season!!
So the situation as I see it is - Derry wasn't wanted as Wise doesn't get on with him / until we get injury problems!!
I'm deeply disappointed Derry isn't coming back, but I can see why he doesn't want too!! Simple decision in my opinion - Playing Championship football for a team that want you VS Playing for a team that's manager doesn't want you, until they need help during an injury problem!!
While I'm on my little rant - Heath has to go, our defence is a joke - mainly due to this over the hill donkey, who defends like a plank of wood!!!
Mike Charlston****
It seems to me that Leeds have shot themslves in the foot by not inserting a recall clause in the loan deal.
I cannot blame Derry, who is getting first team football every week, for not coming back to warm the bench.
If Leeds really wanted him as part of their future, they would have played him and talked to him about a new contract.
Like many other players at Leeds,Wise has fallen out with Derry and only now wants to know him.
****
Shaun has never looked good in Leeds colours. He belongs to Palace.
Dan****
Dennis Wise must think the fans are stupid if we would believe the Shaun Derry situation isn't of his own making. It shows his lack of judgement on player's ability. Or does he think his own personal vendetta is bigger than LUFC as a whole? It's crunch time Dennis - time to prove you have some managerial ability. Superior fitness, longball tactics and luck won't see us through the whole season.
Manchester White - season ticket holder 17yrs.****
Who can blame Derry. Wise has treated him appallingly. Just as he did Kelly and others last season. If Derry can get his match fitness with Palace why couldn`t he have done it at Leeds. Wise has again shown his inexperience paranoia and stubborness and it has backfired big time. "What goes around comes around" and who does Bassett think he is anyway? Since his arrival the displays have been shocking losing twice to lower league teams in the cups and 4 league games plus some very lucky draws. Shame to say it but promotion is just a pipedream

Lets be honest, no-one really knows what went on last season and remember there was a lot of talk about Derry being 'the mole'. It sounds like Dennis didn't see him as being part of his team, sent him out on loan and now he's desperate for a midfielder is having to swallow his pride and Derry's having none of it. What's more important here? Derry's pride? Dennis's ego? No, its Leeds United.
Derry is under contract to Leeds and we pay his wages. He should have acted the bigger man and showed he is a professional. Instead he has given all Leeds fans a smack in the teeth. Just shows - Wise was right to ship him out!
Sally ****
I rated Derry as Leeds best player in the time he was here.
I am disappointed in his attitude to Leeds and the fans, but I agree with the other comments - it's naive of Wise and Bassett to expect him to come running back like a puppy!
No recall clause, frozen out from the Leeds team, he'd be crackers to come back from Palace now............hopefully he'll not return at anytime which will avoid him being treated like a leper.
What's uncle Ken spending the "full, house" money on - hopefully a new midfielder before the wheels come off altogether.
Chris, Alicante Whites, Spain.****
The only thing that will be achieved by Wise and Bassett's little rant, is a reduced transfer fee for Derry when he does leave the club.
He is on loan at a club and is honoring that contract, so you cannot really criticize a player for doing that. Especially when it was Leeds who put him in that position in the first place. After all Derry did say he wanted to stay at Leeds, get fit and get his place in the team.
Publicly criticizing him will only lead clubs to the fact that Leeds want rid and will offer as little as possible for him. So yet again Leeds will lose out selling another half decent player on the cheap.
Liam****
Dennis has made his first big error by omitting Shaun Derry from the squad when Derry became available for selection following his long lay off. It comes as no surprise to any Leeds fan that Derry chooses to stay in London with Palace. Palace have been transformed since Derry returned on loan. Warnock is a shrewd campaigner and saw Derry's true worth. Derry is to good for division one by far.
The Leeds crowd took to Derry because of his work ethics and passing ability.
One can only conclude that Dennis sees Derry as the last of the "Old School" and perhaps the "Mole". Both subjections should be put aside for the good of the team. The larger picture.
The woeful abject rubbish served up against Oldham makes the loss of Derry harder to bear.
I remember Blackwell having two plans. If the first didn't work lob on four strikers and hit it long.
It cost him his job.
We need play makers in middle who can dictate the game. Players that can pass the ball, and win it too. Billy and Johnny come to mind.
Shaun Derry will be our loss.
Hazmataz Foley. Marching on together.****
Shaun Derry was farmed out by wise, yes he might have been unfit but what are the united back room staff employed for? Wise should have had him in for extra training and regular second team games. I watched Derry always give is all for Leeds, he could have done a real good job in a weak midfield. I have been to every home game this season and the Bristol and Oldham games were the worst I have seen in 29 years going to Elland Road. Gus Poyet left, and Spurs have started to improve Leeds since Bassett arrived have gone backwards at an alarming rate. I could not believe the tactics against Oldham taking Seb Carrol off and putting our leading scorer on the wing, yet leaving Tresor Kandol in the middle who has been terrible in the past few games. Leeds will need six quality players if they get promoted and we will see what ambition the current regime have. Bates was critical of the poor crowds last year (which he brought on himself) not many clubs would get the crowds Leeds are getting in that Mickey Mouse league.

R Atkinson, Selby Whites.****
Shaun Derry should not have gone on loan. He is one of the best midfielders we have at the club, why let him go straight into C.Palace side, in the Championship, ( to get fit ) when he could have been used in our squad, in Div One.( to get fit ) And why did Leeds United not put a clause in the loan deal, allowing them to call him back, when part of his wages are being paid by Leeds. And why did we not call Jermaine Beckford back from his loan with Scunthorpe last season. We could have done with him, he scored enough goals for promoted Scunthorpe.
John Borg, Scarborough.****
I think Wise is an idiot not to have a recall clause in Derrys loan, he should never have been loaned out as he is our best midfield player anyway, it serves Wise right for some shocking management.
Neil Banbury****
Sending Shaun Derry down to Palace on loan was a massive error of judgment by Wise.
We the fans were informed that Derry needed to be match fit to enable him to get into the first team. However looking at the speed and mobility of United's midfield on Saturday a ½ fit Derry would have a vast improvement. Dennis Wise has never had any intention of picking Derry and to now try and blame the lad for not returning is nonsense. Dennis if you don't want a player at Leeds, then be honest and say so, don't come out with the clubs spin on things to justify your actions. Shaun Derry has always given 100% for the team when picked and this was borne out by his performance for Palace at the weekend.
I would like to thank Shaun Derry for his contributions for Leeds United over the past seasons and I for one will applaud him when he next plays against us.
Paul H****
Why is Dennis trying to get the fans against him now? Telling us all for the best part of a week he doesn't want to play with us is very "small" of him (pardon the pun). He obviously has a problem with Derry which is idiotic, you cannot let petty issues get in the way - he is pure class, look at how Palace have done with him there, relegation to promotion contenders, not losing a game since he came which has dragged him up the table. He is the best midfielder we have and we cannot let him go, he is exactly what we need and therefore we have almost a new signing on the 19th of Jan, without paying a penny.
Sweet Mercy, sort it out Den and Bertie.
Sean****
It has been obvious that Dennis Wise hasn't liked Derry for some time. Trouble is, Thompson might be a better player but he isn't fit. If Bates is serious about getting out of the 3rd Division you have to pay the wages to get championship quality, Derry is on £7000 per week and it makes Ken so unhappy that he cant use the money to improve HIS ground. I noticed that you lot at the yep ignore the ground ownership saga, surely a good investigative journalist could get the truth. Be proper journalists and stop towing the Bates line. Mark Brinley (Nottingham Whites).
PS I sent a list of questions to KB after he invited fans to view his ground redevelopment proposals in the Huddersfield program, funny I have not heard from him.
Mark Brinley (Nottingham Whites).****
Grow up Bassett, we put Derry out on loan in the first place for reasons only you and Dennis Wise know.
We seem to be trying to make Derry out as public enemy number one. Firstly he is rumoured to be the mole and no-one from Leeds United has ever confirmed or denied this and now we are trying to publicly vilify him in the press for apparently refusing to come to our rescue.
All this should have been dealt with behind closed doors, if we were being professional then it would have been. Or is there another reason for this issue being aired so publicly?
We have done well this season by sticking together and uniting behind the cause, fans players and management. There appears to be signs of this cracking in recent weeks. Is this a coincidence since changes in our management team?
Neil****
If Wise says its raining chances are its sunny. Never believe a word he says. Just ask Kelly, Sullivan, Butler and Gregan to name just a few.
Why oh why have so many fans fallen for the Wise con trick. It wasn`t his team selection, tactics or anything else which resulted in the good start. It was because we are Leeds United. However now that doesn`t matter any more. Just like Nottingham Forest we are doomed for many years in the 3rd division.
As for Derry and Warnock, a deal is a deal. What part of no recall clause does Wise not understand? He is a joke and lost without his Uruguayan mate. For that loser Bassett to stir up against Derry is disgraceful and its about time Wise and Co started getting some stick. Come on, to lose to Carlisle, Hereford, Bury, Cheltenham, Oldham, and to scrape draws at Gillingham, Walsall and the rest is too embarrasing for words.
Kevin Luton****
Once again very naive of Leeds to let a player go out on loan without a recall clause. We always seem to get the worst deal when we are the seller.
Can't really blame Derry for not wanting to come back and so there is obviously more to it between him and Wise than meets the eye. On the other hand he's a Leeds player, we pay his wages and have nursed him back from injury so he owes us a bit of loyalty when we need him most.
Not sure any of us are really in a position to comment when we are kept in the dark about the facts.
Paul, Leeds****
Once again D.W has let his personality clashes with players get in the way of the progress of OUR club, if Shaun Derry was the mole then it should have been delt with behind closed doors Derry fined and warned about any future breaches of conduct.
Instead Wise retorts to childish games of tip tap you won't play for us till your fit ………. Flo, Thompson & Constaintine have spent large spells being injured were they farmed out ???? no.
I admit I am a Derry fan I like what he brings to the side and he has proved his self at a higher level previously & currently and it would have been like signing a new player (for free) for the second half of the season but as usual it is now soiled by all this public slanging, he said, I said if the people involved had there heads screwed on right we would have had a call back clause in the loan agreement but as has happened we don't have the foresight to add sell on clauses to players we sell so we loose out on windfalls for player we originally sold for peanuts when they move on to bigger and better things.
Wise has done ok with the siege mentality but I think it's now showing that Gus Poyet was the brains behind the Duo.
All this public fighting over Derry will only play into the hands of Palace they will offer peanuts and D.W will take peanuts just to get him away from the club when his presence in Our midfield would be much more valuable but I think all the bridges have been burnt in this particular saga and Shaun will be a Palace Player come the end of the month which is another sad chapter in the story that is LUFC.
Tony Cole ****
If it was a decision made by Derry not to return then who can blame him. This rubbish about sending them out on loan for fitness doesn't wash with me.
You either want the guy or you don't, you either play him or you don't. Derry has been around for a long time and with a lot of experience and not being 100 per cent fit in league division 1 shouldn't be a problem. The fact that Warnock is playing him in The Championship and on a winning run is at odds with Dennis Wise's decision to ship him out.
How can a player perform at his highest when he is shipped from one club to another.
If he is not part of the plans get rid and let him get a game elsewhere.
Stuart K, Perth, Australia****
I am sure the club would be well within it's contractual rights in refusing to pay a share of his wages if Shaun Derry refuses return to Leeds.I'm equally sure other supporters will share this opinion

loaning out shaun derry is wises bigest mistake since he took over at leeds. derry is head & shoulders above anything else in the leeds midfield.hes playing out? of his skin in a higher division/ just what is wises problem.warnock must think hes won the lottery.

The team is more important than one single player. Are there not any kind of loyalty left in our days players. On the other hand why was he sent away in the first place. Clearly he was fit, played extremly well in the championship, while we sent him off we got two injured players (deVries and Kishishev)in on a loan deal. Why weren`t there any release clause . I am not very impressed with the management of Leeds in this case, but Derry is a Leeds player and here is where his loyalty should be. LU is lacking fighting force in the midfield, every stone must be turned to get it in order.
Svein-Magne (North of Norway)****
I think he is a great player and I love Leeds United and have a season ticket but WISEY you have messed up there pal!!!!
Derry is a different class for league one and whatever he did in the past should be the past as we want to look to a bright future !!!! Get him back at whatever cost to your personal pride!!!

Shaun Derry gave his heart and soul to Leeds United and was by far the best Leeds player in the Championship final against Watford which we lost 3-0. He suffered serious injuries and setbacks however featured in this season's shirt advertisements posters as well as being vice captain and captain last season.I was looking forward to his return.
What went wrong?
Rumors were rife he was the 'mole' in the camp prior to last seasons home fixture with Crystal Palace?
What became of the mole, it must have vanished underground I suppose no name no explanation to the fans?
With half the season to go and two back to back defeats as well as players being suspended, injuries, Rui going to play in the African nations Cup plus an alarming dip in form if it was not for the good luck in the prior 3 or 4 games things could be a lot worse.
We could do with a midfielder of Shaun Derry's caliber and he should have never been treated in this manner.
To loan him out after overcoming the injuries would have knocked the stuffing out of any dedicated footballer, Dennis had the chance to play Shaun in the side that crashed so badly to Hereford in the F A cup instead he played a youthful side which backfired on the manager, I am convinced given time he would certainly be in this side now making us stronger and challenging for the title.
It serves Dennis Wise right, Shaun Derry would make the team of any Championship side let alone Division 1 outfit, it is our loss.
Is it too late for Shaun Derry - time will tell, best of luck mate he will do well where ever he goes.
I only hope Dennis Wise does not regret his actions by the end of the season.

I don't blame Derry in the slightest for not wanting to return to Leeds before the loan agreement is up. After all Wise made it clear to all and sundry that he was surplus to requirements. We know Dennis still blames him for the "mole" situation last season and will not forgive and forget even though he knows he was wrong. In my opinion he would have inserted a clause in the loan agreement if he had any intention of Shaun ever playing again for Leeds. The irony is he is playing out of his skin in the Championship - a division Wise could not keep us in!!
Ralph, Chesterfield****
Shaun Derry is a quality player. Clearly there has been some kind of 'personality clash' between him and Dennis Wise, and the fact that he was farmed out on loan made it pretty obvious to everyone that he was not wanted by the Leeds management (strengthened by the lack of a recall clause). If Dennis doesn't feel that was the case, then he needs to take a long, hard look at how he communicates through the media. I am not arguing with his decison to do that - however much I personally would loved to have seen Derry back in the side, because he is the type of player the midfield is crying out for - but you can't then deride a player for not returning, when he has got a great chance of a permanent contract with the new club.
Whoever's decision it was for him not to return early, I wish Shaun Derry all the best for the future for what he has given to Leeds on the pitch; which is all I can judge him on. Should he be taken on by Crystal Palace (which seems likely) and should he play against us next season (which also seems likely, despite that abject performance on New Year's Day) I for one will be applauding him on his return.
Robin Simpson****
I am convinced that Shaun Derry is the "mole" and hence his decision to stay at a club that should have been buried years ago. He fits in well with their arrogant Chairman and nutcase of a manager.

Why get hung up about someone who showed where his heart lay last year. Dont want to play get em out no matter who they are we have had far to many who were only here for the money anyone who saw Derry play once hed had his haircut knew his heart was not in it anymore. At the end of the day anyone who thought he had a future here must be bonkers. You dont bring in aging Bulgarian within days of letting one of yesterdays stars go out on loan to a higher league to get fit, and as for all the twaddle about what a disaaster this season is dear o dear. You are doing a first rate job Dennis and its a shame but often the case that supporters will generally flock to the player and not the manager.

Shaun Derry has put more effort in for Leeds Utd under Blackwell then any other player, he was the main man in midfield unfortunately he has been cast aside by the present management. Mole or no mole, one of our best & hardest working players doesn't want to return, & who can blame him after the way he's been treated. Shame on you Mr Wise, after doing so well in the first 4 months of the campaign I hope the casting aside of Shaun Derry doesn't come back to haunt us. Suggest you grab some humble pie, drive down to London, put your arm around the lad & bring him back to the fold.

Reading between the lines there is, in these moans, too much sentiment. I expect the moaners are bothered that Bates & Wise are actually turning (being successful) the oil tanker (that's LUFC) away from the rocks (liquidation), having already put the fire out (Inland Revenue).
When you've got a squad of 25 plus players and the best player (according to the emails) undermines the new manager (as suggested) what does the new manager do? He sorts him out for the good of the team & the club.
Having done so Wise has put Leeds back on the road to success. Let's see what Bates & Wise do in the transfer window before getting all anti-Chelski over their leadership. If it was a vote between Wise or Derry staying I'd pick Wise all day long.
I think Derry & Wise are big enough men to now bury the hatchet & march on together to getting Leeds back in the Premiership next year!
We all want to see Leeds beating Chelsea in 2009!
Cheers,
Bob, Sandy, Beds PS Leeds City Council - don't look a gift horse in the mouth - support the proposed development by Bates - it's for the good of Leeds and it's people. If you leave it too long you might as well turn it down now.

Hello,
The critical words in this story are "Derry's loan deal which expires on January 19 did not contain a recall clause, giving Palace the right to retain his services".
Denis Wise made an error on the written contract by not including a recall clause. I also get a distinct impression that Derry wasn't wanted by Wise (or by the club) in any case; that is until he had a run of injuries and bad luck and the situation changed.
Denis Wise needs to acknowledge his own mistakes and learn from them instead of acting like a 'spoiled brat' and blaming the player for his own short comings. It certainly wasn't Derry's fault that he 'messed-up' and at the end of the day, it all boils down to another of Denis Wise's ongoing immature tantrums, simply because he couldn't get his own way.
Pardon the pun, but Denis Wise need's to do a lot of growing up!
Regards,
