Leeds boasts some of the best restaurants in the region - it’s a culinary cornucopia which offers food styles from around the world. This week, we look at some of the best meat restaurants making the cut.

FAZENDA, WATERMAN’S PLACE, LS1

Meat every which way you can imagine it - on the bone, off the bone, well done, rare but mostly stuck on a skewer and carved in generous portions onto your plate by any of the passing waiters.

They say: “Gauchos pierced large pieces of meat and slowly grilled them over open flamed pits. At Fazenda, we want to keep this tradition alive.

“Our gaucho chefs roast succulent cuts of meat in the way it has been done for centuries, preserving the individual taste of each tender cut.”

Their mantra is simply: ‘Come hungry, leave full.’ Shortlisted for this year’s Oliver Awards, this restaurant tucked away behind Victoria’s Secret at the back of the Trinity Centre is every meat lover’s dream.

Burgers come loaded with meat and slathered in sauce. Hotdogs are the size of a small dog. And there’s more to discover, not least the deep fried pickles and a wagon-load of cocktails, spirits, beers and ciders and over 100 types of whiskey behind the bar.
