Change can often be most dramatic when viewed from the air as these pictures of old Leeds clearly demonstrate.

If you had been landing at Leeds Bradford Airport in 1964 your window view would have been something like this with the new runway under construction and in 1975 a plane gave the best view of the aftermath of the Kirkgate market fire.

In 1937 the Harrogate Road towards Alwoodley looked like a small village and in 1933 the scaffolding on the new Civic hall is clearly visible.
