Susan Basham from Leeds was in a class of her own after passing her HGV licence after just four-and-a-half days’ training.

Susan, of Farsley, Pudsey, passed the test after the first attempt just four months after her 21st birthday.

She was no stranger to success, having passed her driving test on her 17th birthday and her advanced driving test shortly after her 18th birthday. HGV lessons were a present from her mother, a headteacher.

“I love driving and thought it would be a challenge, said Susan, who drove an Escort XR31. Not only was she the only woman taking the test on the day, she was the only one to pass, becing described as “exceptional” by her examiner.

She worked at Leathley Hall as a groom.
