Leeds nostalgia: Moment Harrogate twins met their pop idol in 1999

People were seeing double after identical twins Deb and Sam West, 28, from Harrogate put out an SOS to anyone who might have taken a picture of them meeting their idol, Shakin' Stevens, on stage.

The pair stormed the stage during a recent gig at York Barbican to each steal kisses from the pop singer.

However, they were then desperate to find anyone who may have captured the moment.

Their prayers were answered when Andy Haywood, from York, got in touch to say he had captured the moment. To begin with, it was thought Andy had only managed to capture one of the twins during their stage invasion but it turned out he’d got them both.

Sam said: “It’s not just made my day but my year. I just wanted to get hold of a picture.”
