Who were the famous Leeds visitors in previous Februaries? We take a look.

Many of us remember him as the third doctor but Jon Pertwee was instantly recognisable in 1993 when he arrived as Worzel Gummidge to meet Wayne Kaeey and Christopher Cunningham.

Another famous face from 1970s children’s TV was Susan Stranks who used to present Paperplay and Magpie. She was in Leeds to judge a schools art competition in 1979.

In 1983 the Flying Scotsman pulled into Leeds and brought with it the unlikely pairing of hollywood actor Ray Milland and musician Joe Brown.

TV favourites Eric Sykes and Jimmy Edwards visited the city in 1980 and legendary hairdresser Vidal Sassoon added a touch of sixties style in 1968.
