Autumn means the start of the university term - and the city will soon be flooded with arriving students. We asked the #Leedsrecommends community for the best student drinking spots.

Adam Stoker. The Dry Dock. Who doesn’t love a pub in a boat? The roof area is great in summer, it’s usually busy and attracts a young crowd. Food reasonably priced and menu has improved a lot.

Ellie Sandhu. The Library. Close to Leeds Uni campus and a welcoming atmosphere.

Alice Vause. The Original Oak, because the beer garden is huge. It’s a classic student venue.

Jack Ram. If you like live music, the Packhorse is a good option. Close to the uni and a good range of bands play there.

Charlotte Coupland. The Skyrack in Headingley. Can get busy but it’s the hub of student life there.

Beth Nelson. Woodies in Headingley isn’t one of the loudest pubs, but it does do a very good quiz.

Ali George. Brotherhood, at the top of Albion Street. It’s really made its mark and is such a cool place to hang out.

Matthew Thwaites. Skyrack for its live sport - it’s a great place to catch matches.

Lydia Isaacs. The Dry Dock is the last stop on the Otley Run, so it’s a student classic! It’s really roomy with pool tables and decent food.

Tom Hayes. The Reliance, which is a bit out of the way. It’s popular with academics and uni staff, so you’re more likely to run into your lecturer here than your mates, but it’s a really relaxing bar and it even has a charcuterie to add a bit of class.

Ben Burton. Have to say The Joint. Cool surroundings - it’s a converted church - and tasty burger menu.

Rajinder Jhoti. Trio in Headingley. Restaurant and separate bar areas, so it’s good for any occasion.

Niall Gatenby. Tiger Tiger! Best place to party. So many great cocktails and the themed rooms are really cool.

Anna Steadman. Smokestack if you’re into blues and jazz. Cool music and good American food menu.

Jasper Walker. You can’t beat the Belgrave. It’s not exclusively studenty and attracts a mix of ages, but the roof terrace is amazing and there are several street food stands inside now, so there’s plenty of choice. Always a good atmopshere and of course, great gigs.

Amelia Coe. The Box is the place to be - it’s the heart of Headingley. You can stay there all day and night because the drinks, food and atmosphere are so good. It’s always buzzing.

Dan Gosney. If you study at Leeds Trinity, Kobe in Horsforth is a good hang-out. It’s a cool bar with a young crowd and a good food menu too.

Rick Poppa. Head over to Roundhay to Napa bar, failing that Arc in Headingley, or The Pit in town. Great cocktails and not that pricey. Arc’s full of like-minded students so the place to be!

Siobhan Waugh. Most go down to Viaduct, Showbar, Queens Court etc.
