Have your say

If your world revolves around your family, we want to know. This week we hear from Gaby O’Grady, PR manager for Jet2. She lives in Harewood with husband Ashley, who has his own framing and gilding company, Exhibit1, and their four-year-old son Zac.

Top tips for getting children to do what you ask?

Say you’ll give one of their favourite toys to charity.

What family task takes you the longest?

Getting ready to go out.

Has Zac ever really, really surprised you?

His vivid imagination never fails to surprise me and make me smile.

Funniest thing he’s said?

“No, Mummy this is the deal...” Zac thinks he is a mini Alan Sugar!

What really gets your goat?

People who still think mums shouldn’t work.

What’s your favourite family day out?

Picnic at Bolton Abbey – where Ash proposed to me – then ice cream at Billy Bob’s Ice Cream Parlour.

The city’s most family-friendly restaurant?

I like Amici on Harrogate Road – an early pizza dinner on a Friday always gets the weekend off to a good start.

Zac’s favourite food?

Pom Bears and rice and poppadoms – healthy diet then!

What hobbies do you enjoy?

Cinema trips as a family, plus I love running and the gym and Ash is into cycling.

Hardest thing about being a parent?

Ensuring that you are doing a good job raising them – I think there is so much pressure on parents these days.

Typical evening once Zac is in bed?

Well after the hour-long debate to get Zac to go to bed it’s food then collapse on the sofa to watch telly, often with wine!

Best thing about weekends?

Just being together as a family. Ash and I both work long hours so weekends are precious for us to spend quality time with Zac. PJ and Disney film afternoons are our favourite.

Your one essential item?

Baby wipes.

Most treasured memory?

When Zac had just been born and the midwife had bought us tea and toast and we just couldn’t stop staring in wonder at our beautiful boy. Best tea and toast I’ve ever had!

Zac’s favourite book?

LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles!
