FORMER Leeds United star Danny Mills had a cracking time in the kitchen as he lent his support to an event taking place as part of this year’s Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon.

Danny, a one-time contestant on TV’s Celebrity Masterchef, was on hand for the official launch of the countdown to the James Potter Eggs Yorkshire Marathon Corporate Relay.

The relay is open to teams from businesses and will be held on the same day and along the same course as the sold-out marathon.

Danny will be leading a team in the event, which is being sponsored by North Yorkshire-based James Potter Yorkshire Farmhouse Eggs. And, to help spread the word about the relay, he rustled up a variety of egg-themed snacks for staff at York Science Park.

Danny said: “The Yorkshire Marathon is going to be the biggest sporting event in the region 2013 – and I’m really excited to be a part of it.

“I’ll be running the first leg in a team and I’m really looking forward to soaking up the fantastic atmosphere around the course.

“The James Potter Eggs Yorkshire Marathon Corporate Relay is a brilliant way for businesses to get involved – and try to take home the title of fastest firm!”

The marathon and its sister corporate relay race will take place in York on Sunday, October 20.

They are being organised by Jane Tomlinson’s For All Events group. Entry into the corporate relay costs £300 for a team of six.

Jane Tomlinson’s For All Events works to build on the fundraising legacy left by the late Leeds mum whose name it bears.

Jane raised millions for charity by tackling endurance challenges before her death from cancer in 2007.
