Family of the Week: Rebecca and Lee Jewitt

Rebecca and Castleford Tigers forward Lee Jewitt have been married six years. Rebecca is currently a full time mummy to Isobella, nine, Oscar, five, and four-month-old twins Noah and Oliver. Evening Post readers followed their story after their twins were born prematurely.

What are your top tips for getting children to do what you ask?

Make it a fun mission, ie race.

What family task takes you the longest?

Getting ready in the morning.

What’s the weirdest thing your children have done?

Walking down Blackpool promenade someone was walking their rat on a lead and Oscar put it on his shoulder.

Have your children ever really surprised you?

Our twins, surviving after being born at 26 weeks, having multiple operations and blood transfusions. Coming home against all odds.

What’s the most bizarre thing you have found yourself saying since having kids?

“Ill say this once”.. only to repeat it again and again.

What’s the funniest thing your children have ever said/done?

Sitting once with my legs crossed Isobella said I had my shoes on the wrong feet! Oscar was looking at his nan’s face, asked why has she got cracked egg shells (wrinkles) on her face.

Mini moan - what really gets your goat?

People not picking doggy poo up.

What’s your favourite family day out?

Watching Dad (Lee) play at Castleford.

What hobbies/pastimes do you enjoy as a family and separately?

We all enjoy anything sporty and watching WWE wrestling.

What’s the hardest thing about being a parent?

Seeing your children upset by something you have no control over.

What’s a typical evening for the grown-ups once the children are in bed?

Eat, catch up on our day with each other and most importantly sleep.

What’s the best thing about weekends and why?

We get to spend family time together, mainly consisting of rugby with Isobella and dad

What is your most treasured memory?

Recently bringing our premature babies home against all odds!

What’s the children’s favourite food/meal?

Isobella - Nans Lasagne; Oscar - salmon & cous cous

What’s your top penny-pinching tip?

When the ice cream man comes, Lee tells the kids if the music is on he has no ice cream left

One family member’s proudest achievement?

Lee, playing at Wembley.
