SINCE Sam’s Chophouse closed earlier this year we’ve been anxiously waiting to see what would be taking its place.
Now City Buzz can reveal the venue on South Parade will become a brand new steakhouse called Stockdales of Yorkshire.
The restaurant has been working with top Leeds chef Anthony Flinn on their new menu, so you know it will be good.
Formerly of Anthony’s restaurant fame, the award-winning chef has since set up his own consultancy company and has been working on cool and quirky ideas for their new dishes.
Top quality meat will be the main focus, with ribeye steak and Wagu beefburgers on offer, along with more refined dishes such as gin-cured salmon with borage flowers, duck egg and truffle soldiers and a chargrilled Caesar salad. With Blackhouse and Gaucho just a stone’s throw away, the impressive menu sounds like the newbie could help keep these steakhouse stalwarts on their toes.
It’s another great addition to what is becoming a booming area. With tapas restaurant La Rambla and swanky bar Office opening nearby earlier this year, and the thriving Greek Street area that’s welcoming another Alchemist bar and a luxury boutique hotel, the location is going from strength to strength.
Building work is still underway at the old Sam’s Chophouse site, as Stockdales is giving it a complete make-over. But we can’t wait to see what’s in store at this new eatery.
