Sheffield United launch their pre-season tour tomorrow with a game against Hungarian side Ferencvaros.
It will be the first of a three-game European tour which should set the Blades up for an assault on the Championship title.

Ferencvaros are the Blades' sister club and it is hoped they will provide a good workout after the opening fortnight of pre
-season training.

Although well known to United fans, it is fair to say that the Hungarian club, based in Budapest, will not be recognised by many others.

They did qualify for the Champions League in 1995 and they are undoubtedly a club with big-game experience having picked up a draw against Real Madrid.

United fans will be flocking to the Hungarian capital, ready to support their team and enjoy the stunning surroundings that it has to offer.

Kevin Blackwell's men will need all the support they can get as the partisan crowd will no doubt be in good voice for the biggest game in the club's recent history.

From Budapest, the Blades will head for Tienen, Belgium, where they will play against the local club on Wednesday evening.

This is another team that will be new to many English football followers and the city has a population of just 30,000.

But the Blades will be ready for what will no doubt prove another tough test.

Although a second-tier club, few will be expecting an easy ride with the home players motivated for the game of their lives against what is still regarded as one of the big names in English football.

The tour will draw to a close with a game against Dutch outfit Helmond Sport on Saturday (5pm).

Helmond cannot boast the facilities of Championship clubs, playing their home fixtures at a ground with just a 4,100 capacity, but they will prove competitive opposition for the Blades.

The Dutch club will provide another workout on what promises to be a challenging but worthwhile tour of the continent.

It is hoped that the three games will help Blackwell's men to iron out any problems before the most difficult of opening fixtures, away at relegated Birmingham City on August 12.

Meanwhile, striker Rob Hulse will be looking to re-capture the form that saw former Blades boss Neil Warnock sign the player from Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.

Blackwell revealed that Hulse has completed the first stage of pre-season and looks set to star on the tour of Europe.

The striker suffered a broken leg in 2007 and struggled to impress on his return to the first team.
