LEFT-BACK Joe Skarz has stoked the fire ahead of tomorrow's clash with Leicester City, insisting Huddersfield Town have no fear of the current League One leaders.
City began the season as second-favourites behind Leeds for the title but currently top the table with 19 points out of a possible 24.
Town remain in the bottom half but, buoyed by last Saturday's 1-1 draw at Oldham, Skarz sees every chance of a h
ome victory tomorrow (3pm).
At just 19-years-of age, Skarz is looking to cement his place as one of Stan Ternent's first-team regulars and is hopeful about contributing to a Foxes downfall.
"They are top but we know we are as good as anyone in this league when we play well," said Skarz.
"We showed that against Oldham – that we are one of the best teams in the league. We've just got to try and reproduce that against Leicester and we don't fear anyone.
"We know we've got a good bunch of players at our club so we've just got to go into the game with no fear and, hopefully, we can come out with a win.
"All the lads have been confident this week in training and everything and we felt we should have won really on Saturday. We had two penalties that we should have had and we had the better chances I thought. Our formation seemed to frustrate Oldham.
"Obviously it has lifted all the spirits up but we were confident anyway and we know we can get a result.
"We knew we were good enough but we have been lifted."
Town are desperate for promotion in their centenary year but despite the more encouraging signs recently, the Terriers are still seven points off the play-off places and 10 points off top spot.
Skarz has no worries and insists such a deficit is nothing at the beginning of October.
"We're very confident and we've only played eight games," said Skarz. "There is still a long way to go in the season and we've got a big enough squad – you only have to look at our reserves. They are winning every week and they were the first team last year.
"We've got a really strong squad – we just need to push on towards that top six and hopefully when we get there we can stay there.
"We had a bad start to the season but we haven't lost the last two games and we are starting to hit a bit of form.
"Hopefully we can carry that on, beat Leicester on Saturday and push on towards the top six."
In addition to Leicester's travelling support, the Galpharm Stadium will be rocking tomorrow with a record-breaking 16,000 plus season ticket holders roaring on the Terriers.
Skarz has no doubt the crowd will be in excellent voice.
"We just want the crowd to be the same as they were against Northampton," he said.
"They were brilliant against Northampton and hopefully they can cheer us on again and we can give them a performance to make all the fans pleased.
"It's a big game, there are not many tickets left and there's going to be a big crowd.
"Leicester are one of the favourites for promotion so it's a massive game in our eyes but I think it's a big game for them as well.
"It's going to be a big game and hopefully we can gain three points."
