Feyenoord's Dutch striker Roy Makaay is the latest player to be linked with Hull City.
Hull are reported to be about to make a £1.5m bid for the frontman, who previously played for Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
in his four years at the German club Makaay managed 17 Champions League goals.
The signing would be a tremendo
us coup for Hull. Makaay is a class player who would have made more than his 43 appearances for his country but for the quality of talent currently wearing the Orange jersey.
Makaay's goalscoring prowess is underlined by the fact that he won the Golden Boot in 2003 for being the highest-scoring player in Europe.
Earlier in his career the striker was linked with a move to England, following a successful spell at Deportivo La Coruna, but opted instead for a move to Bayern.
The search for a striker doesn't stop with Makaay, however. Boss Phil Brown is also believed to be chasing England prospect David Nugent.
Nugent, who joined Portsmouth from Preston in 2007, has made only 15 appearances for the south coast club.
And with Pompey boss Harry Redknapp adding Peter Crouch to his squad it will leave Nugent even further down the pecking order at Pompey.
Nugent, who cost Portsmouth around £6m, is believed to be looking for a first-team opportunity, something that Hull could offer him should they meet the valuation placed on him.
However, the Tigers are believed to be the favourites for his signature after making an unconfirmed bid of around £2.5m.
Meanwhile, George Boateng's move to Hull has been confirmed after he agreed to join the Premiership new boys on Wednesday.
Midfielder Boateng will make the switch from Middlesbrough where he made 182 appearances following his move to the north east from Aston Villa in 2002.
Another new Hull signing, Brazilian Geovanni Silva, trained with his new team-mates for the first time this week and looks set to make his debut for City in the coming week when they begin their pre-season fixtures.
The squad flew back to England last week from Italy where they had their pre-season camp.
