The exit door was busy at the Galpharm Stadium on loan deadline day on Thursday, with four players leaving the club.
Topping the list of departures was Welsh midfielder Michael Flynn, who has joined League Two promotion-chasers Darlington on a month's loan.

Meanwhile, veteran striker Luke Beckett has had his contract paid up and has elected to join Blue Square N
orth outfit Gainsborough and go part-time.

The 32-year-old Sheffield-born attacker – linked with a switch to Bradford in the summer – would have been out of contract next summer and has been on the fringes this term.

He had only featured three times for Town so far this season.

Teenagers Tom Denton and Simon Eastwood, both 19, have joined Blue Square Premier side Woking on one-month loan deals in a bid to gain experience.

Giant striker Denton, who joined in August for a six-figure fee from UniBond First Division outfit Wakefield, is yet to make a first-team appearance for Town, while Luton-born keeper Eastwood is also awaiting his first taste of senior action at the Galpharm.

Former Blackpool and Gillingham goalscoring midfielder Flynn, 28, who had scored five goals in 17 games this term – is heading to the Quakers purely to boost his fitness, according to boss Gerry Murphy.

Newport-born Flynn, brought in by ex-Town boss Stan Ternent, having worked under the veteran manager at the Priestfield Stadium, has recently been on the sidelines with a hamstring injury .

His loan spell is up to and including December 28.

On Flynn, joint second top-scorer at Town this term, caretaker boss Murphy said: "Michael has been injured recently and this is an ideal opportunity for him to get some games under his belt.

"Darlington enquired about him and we felt that it was a great opportunity for him to go up there and get match fit again.

"He's moving for a positive reason."

Ex-Oldham and Sheffield United ace Beckett – who headed to the Galpharm in the summer of 2006 – rebuffed late loan interest from Bournemouth to go part-time and join Gainsborough.

Top-scorer in the previous two seasons, the forward, based in nearby South Yorkshire, said: "It's a good move for the club and a good move for me.

"I've been a bit disgruntled with the situation for a while and I've been trying to get away on loan.

"I'm going to Gainsborough until the end of the season and I'll see how it goes. You never know what will happen in football, but it's good for me at the minute."

Former Town loan frontman Liam Dickinson – top-scorer with six goals this term – has gone to Championship outfit Blackpool on a loan deal.
