Have your say

Everything I Do hitmaker Bryan Adams did it for fans at a packed Sheffield Arena - thanking the 'amazing audience' with an extended solo acoustic encore and even a couple of requests.

At one point - over two hours and 32 songs in - he was having so much fun he looked like he wasn't going to leave the stage at all.

No, the additional set list wasn't scripted. It wasn't staged.

Like one of his parting classics it was Straight From The Heart as an impromptu thanks to the enthusiastic all-singing and dancing crowd, in the city where he revealed fans first sung his lyrics back to him on stage, at the then Sheffield Polytechnic.

This felt like a homecoming for the Canadian, who actually does have Yorkshire roots - his mum and grandparents were from Huddersfield.

Sheffield has special place in his heart as the home of his close pal and song king Eliot Kennedy - he described him on stage as 'one of Sheffield's finest' . He has helped Adams to write many of his hits, including When You're Gone and Back To You. We got them too.

But he didn't just light up the Arena with his songs, more of that in a moment, he also put on a spectacular visual show, with dazzling lights, huge screens, cleverly mixing live shots with old and new music videos.

The most jaw-dropping effect of all was with the help of the 10,000-plus crowd, when he got every one of them to turn on their phone lights - it used to be lighters - to transform the venue into an amazing twinkling galaxy of mobiles.

But that's what he does. He connects with his audience - whether touching emotions with his tunes or getting a pretty girl in the crowed to stand up and dance in the spotlight, which also encouraged a bald, big bellied guy sat near her to open his shirt and join in. Nice.

From the moment Adams stepped on stage, strapped on and cranked up his Gibson guitar the hits kept on coming and it was relentless.

With arguably the best raspy gravel vocals on the planet, he treated fans to a rock solid and passionate performance with all the charm and charisma of the natural showman he is, complete with ear-to-ear smile..

He belted out new rock and roll tracks from latest album Get Up and all the big career anthems, not least of all Summer Of 69, Cuts Like A Knife, Heaven, 18 Till I Die, his Robin Hood theme chart topper, of course, Everything I Do (I Do It For You) and blistering opening song, which really set the pace for the night, Run To You.

Run back soon Bryan.
