A punk rock singer from Wakefield is to share a stage with veteran protest singer Billy Bragg at Glastonbury festival.

Louise Distras, a 26-year-old acoustic punk rocker from Wakefield, has been chosen to appear as part of Billy Bragg’s Radical Round-up on the Leftfield Stage on Friday, June 28.

She said: “The Left Field stage at Glastonbury has a tradition of bringing young artists together with those who have spent their careers speaking out on the issues of the day, and this year is no exception.

“I’m very excited to announce that I will be performing on the Left Field stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival alongside Billy Bragg.”

Distras recently released an EP, Shades of Hate. Her debut album, Dreams From The Factory Floor, is due to be released soon. She has been heavily involved in campaigning against hate crimes following the murder of goth Sophie Lancaster.
