Meet singer songwriter Rupert Stroud, dubbed “one of Yorkshire’s hottest young artists” by the online music press.
He has released two critically acclaimed albums to date after being discovered by British producer Will Jackson (The Kaiser Chiefs, Embrace, The Cribs, The Music).
Rupert started out playing the Yorkshire gig circuit as a solo acoustic artist but now performs with his full band-Mick Bedford on drums and percussion and Paul Horatio Brown on bass guitar.
Rupert and the band have been on a UK tour throughout spring and summer 2013. Festivals in 2013 have included Dymock, Staxtonbury and Tramlines.
Last year Rupert also released a charity single, entitled Always, in memory of his grandmother, with 100 per cent profits in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK, for whom he has now been made a Champion Spokesperson for the charity.
He has raised £6,000 so far.
In February 2013 Rupert was invited down to The House of Commons, as their Yorkshire media spokesperson, for a reception, hosted by the Speaker of The House the Rt Hon John Bercow. This was a cross party initiative to announce ARUK’s new research strategy.
Rupert is back in the studio collaborating with Will Jackson in the recording and production of his third album due for release early 2014.
