Leeds six-piece Sola Virtus are not your usual band.
Their line-up includes “three girls and three guys” which was brought together by Matthew Blackmore, a songwriter whose recovery from cancer in 2010 left him feeling he “still had so many things to say”.
Remaining members are Adrian Martin, Gemma Clark, Vikki Martin, Rick Goodwin and Hilary Dodd.
Their Americana-influenced melodies feature three-part harmonies “that glide above the foot-tapping tunes”.
After two years of gigging, the band are releasing their first single, Change. Explained Matthew: “That’s about the rhythm of life. We all feel out of sorts at times and you sometimes need to change things to get life back on track. Sometimes it’s a choice and sometimes it’s forced, but we all change things up from time to time.”
The band will launch the single at the 360 Club on Woodhouse Lane, Leeds on Friday, January 24. Doors 8pm.
