The LIVE at Leeds is to expand north of the border next year with organisers set to run a similar event in Glasgow.

The Futuresound team has plans to host a second festival in Scotland called Live at Glasgow. It will have a similar format to the Leeds counterpart and run on Sunday May 3, 2015 in the Sauchiehall Street area of Glasgow.

The news comes as the organisers of the Live at Leeds event celebrated after winning a national UK Festival Award.

Futuresound took the title for Best Metropolitan Festival at London’s Roundhouse.

They were presented with the trophy by BBC6 music DJ and Fun Lovin’ Criminals frontman Huey Morgan and defeated stiff competition from Sheffield’s Tramlines, Slam Dunk and Liverpool Sound City among others.

Speaking about the UK Festival Award win, Colin Oliver, founder of Live at Leeds, said: “This is a fantastic way to round off 2014. Live at Leeds (LAL) has been a huge challenge for us to put together over past eight years but it is worth it when you get recognition from the industry like this and when you see bands we have hosted take off internationally.

“LAL is one of the most satisfying and rewarding things we do at Futuresound Events. Getting this Award is a credit to the hard work of the team at Live At Leeds and to all the people who have been involved over the years, particularly within the city.”

Andy Smith, promoter at Futuresound Events and Live at Leeds said: “It’s a great platform for emerging talent and it is pleasing that so many people have supported us in showcasing this.

“We are now busy booking 2015 and will continue to improve and grow the festival into something Leeds can be proud of.”

Live at Leeds returns for year nine of the festival and is ready to kick off your festival season on May 2 2015. Early Bird Tickets on sale now – www.lunatickets.co.uk.
