LEEDS singer Rupert Stroud’s latest release has confirmed his reputation as a fast-rising musical star.

Rupert’s Talk To You EP reached number 11 on the iTunes singer songwriter album chart on pre-orders alone.

Its title track, meanwhile, made it to number 20 on the iTunes singer songwriter singles chart.

As previously reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Talk To You EP features four tracks whose soaring choruses have been compared to anthems by the likes of Richard Ashcroft and Elbow.

Coming out on Rupert’s own Xidus label, the songs are a result of his creative partnership with producer Will Jackson, whose CV includes stints working with Yorkshire bands Kaiser Chiefs and The Cribs.

Rupert, from Ilkley, has supported a string of top acts, including James Blunt in front of 5,000 fans at North Yorkshire’s Dalby Forest last summer.

The new EP’s title track is available to download now on iTunes, with its other three songs due for release on April 12.

Rupert will be launching Talk To You with a show at Leeds’s Wardrobe venue on April 17.
