Singer songwriter Ed Sheeran is the lastest big name to be announced to play at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

The 22-year-old performer, who shot to fame with the hit singles The A Team and You Need Me I Don’t Need You, is due to perform at the £60m Arena on Saturday, October 11.

Since the multi-platinum success of his debut album +, the Halifax-born musician has written songs for One Direction and Taylor Swift.

He has also won two Brit Awards and been nominated for two prizes at this year’s Grammys.

Currently working on a new album, he said: “I can’t wait to tour this new record, it’s been a long time coming. Looking forward to touring the UK and Ireland once again!”

Tickets for Sheeran’s Leeds date go on pre-sale on Wednesday and general sale on Friday.
