A cinematic superhero experience is swooping into Leeds Dock next week – and organisers are urging visitors to don masks and capes themselves.

A free pop-up cinema will screen a range of action-packed films including Kung Fu Panda and The Dark Knight while the venue plays host to a children’s activity zone, catering, a licensed bar and superhero photobooth from next Friday to Sunday.

Sneaky Experience, the firm bringing the attraction to the development which used to be known as Clarence Dock, have also enlisted characters such as The Hulk to wander the dock and pose for pictures.

Audience members young and old are being encouraged to join in the fun and dress up as their favourite superhero during the outdoor series.

Lucy Whalley, project coordinator for development owners Allied London, said: “With Thought Bubble, the UK’s biggest comic convention, descending on Leeds Dock in November, we wanted to give everyone a taste of the comic magic that has inspired some of the most popular films ever made.

“The scene is all set for an unforgettable weekend of superhero action.”

Viewers are being urged to wrap up warm and bring their own chairs to the outdoor daytime and evening screenings which kick off next Friday with a showing of 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at 6.30pm.

Saturdays lineup includes The Incredibles at 12noon, the 1978 classic Superman at 3pm and X-Men: First Class at 7pm.

On Sunday viewers can catch Kung Fu Panda at 12noon, enjoy Marvel’s Avengers Assemble at 2.30pm or see the great Heath Ledger play The Joker in The Dark Knight from 6pm. Visit www.leedsdock.com/events.
