A Harrogate cricket club will operate a "no sixes" rule this season in a bid to protect nearby residents from flying cricket balls.
The decision against six-hitters has been made as part of a licence for the second pitch at Harrogate Cricket Club in Saint George's Road.

Harrogate Borough Council, owners of the ground, has decided that the no six rule on the second pitch should be made aware to all players.

Meanwhile the council has ruled that use of playing strips, including the square, should be restricted to meet the minimum distances allowed.

A report from the council says the decisions have been taken to achieve a balance with residents.
