It doesn't have to be fiction, you can base it on something you may have experienced.
But it does have to be scary.
All the entries will be judged by the Haunted Leeds team - which recently carried out six paranormal investigations at various Leeds buildings.
The team is made up of medium Barrie John, of UK Living's Most Haunted fame, YEP reporters Debbie Leigh and Grant Woodward, YEP commercial manager Nicola Atkinson and paranormal investigator Lynne Robinson.
They're looking for a story that can tread that fine line of being scary but printable in a family newspaper.
Haunted Leeds series producer Geoff Fox said: "This is a fabulous chance for our readers to have a go at some proper creative writing and see it published online and in the paper.
"Ghost stories are one of those genres where everyone thinks they can do it - but scaring people is hard. It takes real imagination.
"I would expect our entrants to be inspired by something they may have experienced in their own lives, movies, novels and maybe even one of the episodes of Haunted Leeds." The winner will see his or her story published right here in the pages of the Yorkshire Evening Post.
