Thomas Silveria, 25, clamped his teeth on Kenneth Firth's bottom lip and tore off a chunk of flesh after he complained about noise from a party, Leeds Crown Court heard.

Mr Firth said loud music was keeping his children awake.

Lift engineer Mr Firth, 39, of Wakefield, will have to undergo plastic surgery and has been left scarred for life.

Judge Geoffrey Marson QC jailed Silveria for three years and four months.

Prosecutor Jon Gregg said Silveria had been at a New Year's Eve party at a house on Daw Green Avenue, Crigglestone when Mr Firth twice went
to the house in the early hours asking for music to be turned down.

The court heard music was so loud Mr Firth had to bang on a window to get the attention of people inside.

Mr Firth came out of his house a third time after hearing screaming and shouting in the street.

Mr Gregg said four men pinned Mr Firth against a car before Silveria came over, licked his face, bit his lower lip and "shook him like a dog".

Silveria was arrested months later and continued to deny the attack even after he was picked out at an identification parade.

Silveria, of Rufford Street, Wakefield, admitted wounding Mr Firth with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

Silveria, who has previous convictions for wounding and assault, was on bail for an assault last August when he committed the latest offence.
