A GIANT five metre high fire started late last night at a West Yorkshire recycling plant was still burning today.
Fire crews were called to the old Woolley Colliery - now a recycling plant owned by LRDe Ltd - at 10pm.
The burning pile drew crowds of motorists who could see the spectacle from the adjacent M1 and surrounding towns.
Crew manager Neil Hawkins said: "It was that big that people were pulling up in droves to have a look at it.
"It was about 70m by 30m and four to five metres high and well alight when we got there. It is on the top of the hill and you can see the valley below it. I think people thought a party was going off and they were waiting for fireworks."
