A cannabis factory has been found a stone's throw from a Leeds police station.
After a tip-off detectives raided a terrace house in Longroyd Grove, Holbeck, where they found it was an all-in-one cannabis nursery, hot house and plant drying centre.
A gas engineer called out by the landlord found the factory on Thursday morning.
Numerous mature plants were being grown in the cellar. On the first floor a super-clean seedling propagation centre had been established in a sealed tent structure and on the top floor plants were being dried in airing cupboards.
The property owner, Michael Metcalf of Middleton, Leeds, said he felt let down by the person he had let to, the son of a friend.
He said he had spent nine months of his spare time refurbishing the house. It had been checked by a letting agent only a month ago and he had been told everything was in order.
Det Insp Jaz Khan, who organised the raid, said Holbeck police were committed to combating drug dealing and other antisocial behaviour.
Earlier the same day homes in Holbeck and Beeston were raided by police in a bid to track the dealers and combat antisocial behaviour. The raids on houses were part of Operation Darfur, partially funded by Leeds City Council.
An early morning raid on a terrace house in Garnett Place, Holbeck, resulted in the seizure of a very large quantity of computer and photocopying supplies, worth £2,000, including boxes of laser jet printing cartridges.
Half a mile away in Allenby Road, Beeston, officers forced an entry at a smart semi-detached house which was occupied by a man and a woman and two children.
Neighbours watched as police and community support officers searched the house.
Later officers leafleted homes in both areas to reassure locals and explain the reasons for the raids.
