Using his mystic powers Patrick Hutchinson sensed a 20-year-old woman's demons from her childhood and helped her confront her abuser for the first time.

After a five-and-a-half-day trial a Leeds Crown Court jury yesterday convicted her tormentor Terrance Dunstan, 61, of five charges of indecently assaulting three girls aged from nine to 11 between 1997 and 2001.

Psychic and Spiritual Medium Mr Hutchinson said after the verdict: "She got justice and that's all that counts."

He said he felt a 'presence' about the woman during the psychic night at a Leeds pub last October.

Mr Hutchinson repeatedly asked if she had been abused as a child until she burst into tears and told the friend she was out with the terrible secret she had kept hidden for around ten years.

Her friend said she too had been abused by Dunstan.

After pledging not to let Dunstan get away with his crimes the two women left the pub and went straight to police.

A third girl later came forward alleging Dunstan had sexually abused her when she visited his home in Morley as a child.

The 20-year-old girl's mother, who was with her daughter at the psychic night, told the YEP: "I don't know how the psychic did it, but going to that night at the pub that night really helped my daughter get her confidence back and get on with her life."

Dunstan escaped prison in March 2005 and was handed a community order after admitting four charges of indecently assaulting three different girls all aged under 16 between 1989 and 2004.

Father-of-eight Dunstan claimed he was the victim of a plot to get him jailed during his trial which started last Monday.

He said the three girls who made complaints against him had conspired with previous victims.

He said they were angry he escaped jail after being convicted of abusing them.

Judge Rodney Grant adjourned sentencing for six weeks for medical reports.

He allowed Dunstan out on conditional bail.

The court heard Dunstan and his family are in the process of moving house.
