FORMER Wimbledon champion Pat Cash believes Andy Murray will soon rise to number three in the world and could cap a brilliant year with victory on his Masters Cup debut in Shanghai.
Murray has risen to fourth in the rankings after a superb 2008, winning five tournaments – including back-to-back Masters Series titles in Cincinnati and Madrid – and reaching his first grand slam final at the US Open.

Cash, the 1987 Wimbledon winner, believes Murray has the game to quickly overtake Novak Djokovic into third place in the rankings behind Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

He said: "I think Andy has a good chance of winning this Masters Cup event.

"Andy is now going to be number three before too long for he's improving his game."

VENUS WILLIAMS added another title to her career with victory in the final of the WTA Tour Championships in Doha.

The American star fought back from a set down to claim a 6-7 (5/7) 6-0 6-2 triumph over Vera Zvonareva of Russia.
