League newcomers Chapel Allerton have gone top of the National Premier League for the first time after thrashing local rivals Pontefract 5-0.
It was Chapel's second 5-0 victory on the trot made all the sweeter by the fact it was achieved away from home.
Chapel had earlier defeated Group A rivals Esporta Oxford by the same margin.
The Ponte' side were without their top three players,
James Willstrop, Lee Beachill and Saurav Ghosal, but it is still an impressive opening to Chapel's campaign.
Meanwhile Vanessa Atkinson went into the match jet-lagged after returning from a major Women's Tour event in New York.
Atkinson was never able to match Chapel player Jenny Duncalf, going down in straight games to the England No 1.
Chapel Allerton continued the Ponte purge, winning all remaining clashes in straight games.
Chapel's first string Alister Walker savoured his second win of the season, defeating Pontefract's newly-promoted No1 and fast-improving Neil Cordell.
The maximum points secured by Chapel Allerton took them to the top of Group A.
Pontefract coaching professional Malcolm Willstrop said of the clash: "We put out a young squad tonight and I was heartened by their performances.
"In a couple of years they'll be something – and tonight they showed their promise."
After three matches – two victories and one defeat – Chapel Allerton head the table on 48 points. Pontefract, in fifth place, are on 23 points, after winning one of their three clashes so far.
Result: National League – Pontefract 0 Chapel Allerton 5 (Pontefract names first): Neil Cordell lost to Alister Walker 7-11 12-14 6-11; Adam Taylor lost to Chris Simpson 3-11 8-11 6-11; James Earles lost to Scott Arnold 9-11 4-11 4-11; Sam Wileman lost to Jonathan Harford 8-11 9-11 6-11; Vanessa Atkinson lost to Jenny Duncalf 6-11 7-11 1-11.
Meanwhile, Huddersfield are currently riding high in second place in the Yorkshire Premiership – after years of battling against relegation.
They host Wigginton tomorrow (7.30) when the home side's Alex Stait will take on his training partner Andy Whipp.
Dave Barnett and Eddie Charlton, the former England junior, are joined by Dave Hymas and Luke Butterworth in the Yorkshire Cup holders' side.
But it will be a tough ask for them against a Wiggington side who have won six out of their last seven games.
