YORKSHIRE Premiership title holders Chapel Allerton were humbled by Huddersfield in one of the season's opening clashes.
The 4-1 success for Huddersfield was their second successive victory against the Leeds side.

At the end of last season Huddersfield served up a big surprise when they defeated Chapel to win the Yorkshire Cup.

Huddersfield skipper David Hymas was delighted with the early season Premiership boost for his side. In the past Huddersfield have flirted with relegation but last season they finished seventh and aim to improve further this term.

Hymas, who comes from Bradford, was one of the four winners for Huddersfield, beating Phil Sculley 3-1.

Elsewhere there was a more predictable victory when former Premiership title holders Wigginton beat Queen's, Halifax, 4-1, taking 19 points from the victory.

Wigginton team boss Ian Tooms said they were keen to regain their championship status.

Meanwhile Chapel Allerton II team started with a victory following promotion to the elite group.

They were steered to a 3-2 success against Barnsley and managed to take 15 points from the encounter.

Few sides with two teams in the Premiership have managed to maintain both of them for long and Chapel are aiming to keep two flags flying.

YORKSHIRE beat Warwickshire 3-2 and Derbyshire 4-1 to clear the first round hurdle in the Inter County Racketball Championships at Ilkeston (Derbys).

The Tykes were jointly skippered by David Hymas (Huddersfield) and Ian Cawthorne (Chapel Allerton). Mike Tolman (Huddersfield) Phil Bowker (Huddersfield Pheonix) and David Lord (Skelmanthorpe).
