A LEEDS club is turning the clock back more than 25 years by rejoining the National Squash League.
Chapel Allerton secured the key of the door to rejoin the country's top-flight league after winning the Yorkshire Squash Premiership last season.
Seasoned spectators will recall the previous National League era at the north Leeds club during the r
eign of David Pearson as the club's coaching professional.
Pearson went on to manage the national teams.
Chapel start their tilt at nationwide glory when they face Nottingham away on October 7. The first home match will not be until December 3.
Alister Walker, who has played at Chapel Allerton for the past six seasons and has a world ranking of 30, is set to lead the side in its clash at Nottingham.
Other names which could figure in the Leeds club's side are Jon Harford, who like Walker hails from Gloucestershire.
Autralian Scott Arnold and England Under-23 international Chris Simpson have also joined the Chapel Allerton squad.
The lone female spot in the side will be taken by world number six Jenny Duncalf from Harrogate. Her reserve will be Jenna Gates from Sussex, who is a nationally ranked under-19 player.
A Chapel Allerton spokesman said the National League breakthrough was coming after the club underwent an improvement scheme costing £800,000.
"We are really looking forward to playing in the National League which will ensure a very high standard of squash," he said.
