Temple AFC U-12s 1
Collingham Colts U-12s 4
Date: Sunday, October, 28
Competition: Garforth Junior Football League, Under 12's, Division 4
Collingham Colts came to Temple having scored 17 goals and conceding none in their last two matches.
Top of the table, Collingham must have expected an easy game but were clearly stunned by Temple's early fire and passion.
Starting in great form Temple's Ashley Walker narrowly missed opening the scoring and Matthew Hayward had a fine effort saved
by the Collingham keeper.
For 20 minutes Temple matched Collingham in all areas but gradually the Collingham attack gained control, especially down the left and from that area scored 2 goals before half- time.
Immediately after the break Collingham extended their lead with a long ball forward catching out the Temple defence and leaving temporary goalkeeper Tom Gordon with no chance.
Temple responded quickly when ever-speedy Ashley Walker raced onto a good through pass and beat the Collingham keeper with a fine goal. Ashley continued to press the
Collingham defence and Temple, much improved on last week's performance, regained control of the match.
Further attempts on goal came from Connor Yates and Ryan (Tank) Wooffitt. Ashley Walker, again from a speedy break-through, went one-on-one with the Colligham keeper who bravely saved. In the closing minutes, against the run of play, a Collingham long-ball beat the Temple defence and left unfortunate keeper Tom Gordon facing three strikers who finished well. Final score 4 - 1
Collingham expected another goal rout, they got a battle instead from a fine Temple team.
