Early goals from Matty McHale and Ricky Lappage got Temple off to a great start in their first match, but, as Temple then sat back to protect the lead Rothwell replied with five quick goals to go in at the break leading 5-2.
Rothwell increased their lead with another three goals in the second-half before Temple came back into the game with goals from Nathan Bates and Rory Drysdale.
A bright start and a hard fought late recovery by Temple promises for a successful season, the relaxation, mid-game, threw away the opportunity for a winning performance.
A worthy of note peformance from new boys goalkeeper Tom Ward, defender Jordan Thomas and winger Ciaran Doyle.
