Second was Timothy Elson from Bristol in a time of 33:43, followed in third place by Leeds City's Sean Cotter, 34:00.
In the ladies race, local Olympic Marathon heroine Tracey Morris of Valley Striders headed the field, finishing in 13th place overall in 35:47, with club colleague Vicky Whitehead second lady home in 36:49. Third place honours in the ladies race went to Jess Trowbridge, 37:17, of Gateshead Harriers.
Local clubs Valley Striders and Abbey Runners used the race as a decider in their year long interclub challenge, and both fielded large teams with Striders shading the result on the day, although the final result has still be confirmed..
Further down the field a team from Radio Aire/Magic 828 completed the course as a final warm up for the forthcoming Great North Run and Horsforth Harriers were using the race to raise contributions to Radio Aire's charity 'Cash for Kids'. Race Director Bob Foulkes said "The race has been a big success again and thanks to the generosity of the running community we should be able to make a sizeable donation to Cash for Kids.
Horsforth Harriers will make a special presentation in the near future to Radio Aire/Magic828 at our Horsforth clubhouse".
Full results from the race are available from organising club Horsforth Harriers website at: www.horsforthharriers.co.uk
Preparations will commence shortly for Horsforth Harriers summer race, the Apperley Bridge Canter, again based at Woodhouse Grove School, but run on a slightly different all off road course.
