Sponsorship needed to help nurture the next generation of footballing stars

Oakwood Owls 14-17s are on the lookout for sponsors in order to continue their successful season at the Soccer City premier league on Friday evenings. Click here for full details.

Rod Christopher, Oakwood Owls youth worker and coach, said: "At the moment players are being asked to make their own way to the Geldard Road venue from our base in Oakwood/Gipton. Then we must pay a fee of 15 per match to compete in order to complete the league fixtures.

"Being a Leeds City council provision we are expected to raise our own funds for such activities & this proves difficult for some of our youngsters, as most are also asked to pay subs at their usual junior league clubs, as well as other sporting commitments during an average week.

"Including travelling expenses it is currently costing us 25-30 per week to be involved here. Obviously not all of our players can afford to pay this money for a sport in which they clearly thrive on & enjoy being involved in, so we really would appreciate any help from companies or organisations within the city.

Mr Christopher appealed to local businesses to help out.

"Perhaps we could add your companys name to our squad shirts or display your logo? We could name our home tournaments & friendlies after you, giving your businesses excellent exposure.

"Maybe your organisation might want to sponsor the club manager/coach, where i could wear sportswear with your name on it. There are lots of ways in which we could help each other,so please get in touch as soon as possible!"
