West Leeds will play at Twickenham in the final of the RFU Senior Vase after beating Melton Mowbray 33-22 away from home.

It was the Leeds side that started the brighter with winger Josh Cassell running in two tries in the opening 15 minutes.

Dale Breakwell kicked a penalty and Danny Booth scored another try off the wing to see West Leeds lead 20-8 at half-time. further penalty from Breakwell, along with a Jack Marshall try kept West Leeds on top and although Melton Mowbray rallied, a Breakwell drop goal in time added on made sure of the win.

Harrogate booked their place in the Yorkshire Cup final with a comprehensive 52-0 victory over Wheatley Hills for whom Cam Leadley starred with the ball in hand.

Morley saw relegation from National 3 North confirmed following a brave 27-23 defeat in their game-in-hand at Rossendale.

The Maroons needed 14 points from three games to have any hope of avoiding the drop and showed their intent from the off with a try from hooker James Dinsdale and a conversion and penalty by skipper Mark Chester.

The advantage was cut in half by the interval but a try by winger Karl Bradshaw and a second penalty took the score to 18-5. However, Rossendale used the sloping pitch to their advantage and three tries in 10 minutes turned the game on its head.

A further home score in the final quarter put Rossendale 27-18 ahead, leaving Bradshaw’s second try five minutes from time only enough for a bonus point.

Sandal, however, took over at the top of the table – by a point from Sale – following their no-nonsense 33-7 victory at Huddersfield YMCA.

Simon Frewin, Dave Martin, Joe Bedford and Gareth Newman scored the tries with Mark Pease kicking two conversions and three penalties.
