Harrogate will attempt to get 2016 underway at the second attempt when visitng county rivals Sandal tomorrow.

Gate’s match against Luctonians was postponed on Saturday with the Rudding Lane pitch unable to cope with the new-year rainfall.

The match has been rescheduled for March 12.

Sandal inflicted the first defeat of the season on Harrogate back in September, when Mark Pease slotted over a dramatic drop goal for a 26-23 scoreline.

That defeat was the start of a three-match losing streak for Harrogate, who have dropped to 10th place with two games in hand on many of their league rivals.

Sandal were flying high early in the season but their form has wavered in the last two months. And the Wakefield side head into tomorrow’s contest on the back of defeats to Otley and Stourbridge.

Otley themselves will be aiming to get back on track after defeat last time out to fifth-placed Leicester Lions but can ill-afford to take third-bottom visitors Huddersfield lightly tomorrow.

After two weeks without a game Morley RFC are hoping to get back into action and confident of more winning points when they travel to Beverley tomorrow.

The Maroons will be aiming to shake off any rust against opponents currently propping up the North One East League.

Morley proved far too good for the East Yorkshire side at Scatcherd Lane in the sides’ first meeting of the season, winning 57-14 back in September.

Since then they have lost only once while Beverley have won twice to have collected just 11 points from their 14 matches to Morley’s 60. The Maroons will be keen to go for a try bonus as well as a victory as they go into the new year three points behind leaders Doncaster Phoenix.

In National One, second-bottom Wharfedale host Blaydon bidding to overturn the two-point advantage the visitors hold over them on the league ladder.
